Heirloom. Pleasant, strong, sweet fragrant flowers. Color changes from soft pink to white. A rare and incredibly fragrant French variety and was first cataloged by Calot in 1867. Saved from extinction in a few gardens. Double apple blossom pink with broad outer petals of light pink and a center that is composed of finer petals and a few red markings. This rare color form of the pixie-like single flowered fern-leaf peony is small enough to look right at home in a sunny rock garden. Much more dainty than the double flowered form at only 12” tall. It must have well drained soil and it will go dormant as early as August. It is fertile and will produce seed to be used in hybridizing new plants.
