Early bloomer. Nosegay is a cross between the yellow Paeonia mlokosewitschii and the fernleaf peony lending to its early bloom. It is one of the most charming of the very early blooming hybrids. Single, early, very tall 42-44 inches. Buff apricot blooms with rose markings at the base of the petals. A stately plant with cupped petals. Grown from germinated seed of Dawn Glow, sent out by Roy Pehrson. Has stamens, pollen and seeds, fertile both ways. This plant is from the same seed lot as Dearest, of interest to peony breeders. Double yellow blend whose opening buds are pink. Flowers are yellow heavily flushed and infused with pink. Side bud flowers are excellent quality and nearly as large as the terminal flowers. Last season, side buds were a bronzy orange. Gorgeous plant with multi-colors at various stages. Flowers are virtually unaffected by heavy rain, living up to it's name, Singing in the Rain.
